Cheryl Hickman has been a Registered Nurse for 49 years at Pikeville Medical Center, and is currently Senior Vice President. Served on the Mission Staff 1970 through 1974, and then also served on the Board in the 1990’s. She returned to the Mission Board since 2018. She lives in Pikeville, Kentucky with her husband Reggie and has three daughters Sarah (Jason) Taylor of Virgie; Kimberly Hickman Chicago, Illinois; and Elizabeth Hickman of Peabody, Massachusetts.
Joshua Kinzer was born and raised in Allen, Kentucky. He is an attorney with an office in downtown Prestonsburg. He resides in Allen with his wife, Dr. Eilene Kinzer. He’s a member of
the Knights of Columbus and is a parishioner of St. Martha Catholic Church in Prestonsburg. He was the founding President of the Floyd County Homeless Shelter, is a past President of the
Grundy (Va.) Lions Club, and served two terms as an Allen City Commissioner. His family has called Appalachia and Floyd County their home for over 10 generations.
Whitney Bailey is the Disaster Response Project Director based in AppalReD Legal Aid’s Prestonsburg office. Whitney is passionate about providing civil legal services to low-income residents of Eastern Kentucky counties impacted by the devastating July 2022 disaster. Whitney is a member of the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Disaster Legal Services program, Mountain Association’s Equity Advisory Council, serves as Secretary for the Floyd County Disaster Recovery Coalition, Inc., and is a Board Member for St. Vincent Mission. In her free time, Whitney enjoys spending time with family and friends, attending any kind of race car event, discovering local coffee shops, and watching Netflix. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Whitney resides in Knott County with her husband, Ethan, their sassy toddler, Emmy, and wonderful mother-in-law, Sandy.
Jimmy Owsley lives in Prestonsburg, KY, with his wife, Kelsey, and their two spoiled cats. Originally from rural Nevada, Eastern Kentucky has been home since 2011, when he first arrived in Floyd County as a volunteer with Christian Appalachian Project. Jimmy now works as a project manager for Mountain Association, supporting local small business & non-profits.
He has a BA (Philosophy) and graduated in 2015 with an MTS (Theological Studies). In temperament, he tends to be mission-driven and task-oriented but has also learned that life isn’t ALL about getting things done; it’s also meant to be enjoyed with those you love. Some random facts: he enjoys hiking, listening to podcasts, and gardening—he also has a love/hate relationship with home improvement projects.
